UNEMPLOYED PROFESSIONALS OFFERED CHANCE TO RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIP TO EDUCATIONAL AND MOTIVATIONAL RE-BRANDING YOU CONFERENCE

Re-Branding YOU™a new initiative dedicated to educating and empowering the legions of unemployed professionals throughout the NY Metro Area, is offering a limited number of scholarships to help individuals re-brand themselves to prepare for a new career or launch a small business in today's economy.

Entrepreneurs Pat Ahaesy and Ny Whitaker launched Re-Branding YOU™ in January 2009 as a community response to the nation's financial crisis. They personally funded scholarships at the pilot conference in March and successfully helped 100 unemployed professionals attend.

“We launched the Re-branding YOU initiative because we believe in “paying it forward” and think participants can help each other by sharing their personal struggles,” commented Ny Whitaker.

Re-Branding You - a full day of education and empowerment with more than 18 conference sessions, speed coaching and networking to help unemployed business professionals transition into a new career or launch a small business in today’s economy - kicked off March 31 in New York City. Opening keynote speaker Watts Wacker - rated one of the 50 most influential business thinkers in the world by the Financial Times and co-author of “The Visionary’s Handbook” as well as “What’s Your Story: Storytelling to Move Markets, Audiences, People and Brands” - encouraged attendees to re-think, re-boot and re-claim their futures.

Notes from Re-BrandingYOU™

One of the highlights of my crazy week was the opportunity to participate in the first-ever Re-Branding You conference on Tuesday. The goal of the event was to provide tools and inspiration to help those who have been downsized learn how to re-brand and position themselves in today’s challenging job market. Dozens of scholarships were offered to allow those between gigs to attend for free. We had an impressive line-up of speakers and coaches that led workshops on everything from resumes to entrepreneurship to health insurance. Futurist and brilliant speaker Watts Wacker started the day by inspiring attendees to re-think, re-boot, and re-claim their futures.

The Re-BrandingYou™ Concept

March 10, 2009 – New York, NY – A strategic partnership called Re-Branding You has been formed by Pat Ahaesy and Ny Whitaker out of a growing concern about job losses and the financial crisis in the New York Metro area. The result of their joint endeavor, the Re-Branding You™ Conference NYC 2009, is a full-day program created for unemployed or transitioning New York City professionals. The event will include: valuable information on emerging industries locally and nationally, the newest methods to network your way into a job, professional coaching, innovative ideas for starting a small business in today’s economy, access to local resources, and opportunities to engage with conference sponsors.

Small Businesses are the backbone of the American Economy. They represent 99.7 percent of all employer firms and employ half of all private sector workers (Source: U.S. SBA Office of Advocacy). “As small business owners, educators, and entrepreneurs, Pat and I wanted to create a vehicle that gives people the relevant tools they need to re-gain employment now,” explained Ny Whitaker, one half of the Re-Branding You Team. “Partnering with another small business gives you the power and resources of a big business,” said Pat Ahaesy. In essence, the two companies re-invented themselves and their brands in an effort to uplift their fellow New Yorkers.
